Boron Neutron Capture Therapy - research in Italy

Saverio Altieri

Research Interest

Innovative techniques for the treatment of disseminated and inoperable tumours based on Boron Nuetron Capture therapy (BNCT). He is coordinator of a group of young researchers studying the possibility of extending BNCT to the disseminated lung tumours and limb osteosarcoma using external neutron beams. The research, funded by National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) and Ministry of University (MIUR) is performed at the Laboratory for Applied Nuclear Energy (LENA) in Pavia, in collaboration with italian and european universities and with Institutions like Comicion National de Energia Atomica (CNEA Argentina) and ldaho National Laboratory (INL,USA).
